Job Overview

The Senior Cost Control Engineer will play a pivotal role within the project management team, being responsible for accurate financial planning, continuous monitoring, and control of project costs to ensure execution within the approved budget. Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Develop and implement effective cost control systems and procedures throughout the entire project lifecycle.
  • Prepare and analyze initial budgets and detailed cost estimates.
  • Monitor actual expenditures against the approved budget, identifying any variances or potential financial risks.
  • Prepare regular (weekly/monthly) financial performance reports on cost for senior management and stakeholders.
  • Analyze changes in the scope of work, evaluate their financial impact, and prepare change order requests.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, schedulers, design engineers, and contractors.
  • Review and audit contractor and supplier invoices to ensure accuracy and contractual compliance.
  • Provide strategic recommendations to improve financial efficiency and reduce project waste.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards, financial policies, and industry best practices.

Essential Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil, Structural, Mechanical) or a related field such as Quantity Surveying or Cost Management.
  • Minimum of 8 to 10 years of experience in a cost control or quantity surveying role, preferably within a project management consultancy or major contracting environment.
  • Proven experience working on major construction projects (infrastructure, high-rise buildings, facilities).
  • Advanced proficiency in cost control and project management software applications (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project, Oracle Unifier, or similar).
  • Strong analytical and statistical skills with an excellent ability to interpret financial and complex data.
  • In-depth knowledge of quantity measurement and pricing principles/methodologies (e.g., International measurement standards).
  • Solid understanding of contract and procurement systems in the construction sector (FIDIC, etc.).

Required Personal Skills

  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and reporting skills in both Arabic and English.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Team spirit and the ability to build positive working relationships with various parties.
  • Initiative and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
