Job Overview

The Subject Matter Expert (SME) will play a pivotal role in providing specialized technical guidance and thought leadership within their field of expertise. They will serve as a key technical authority on projects, ensuring the application of best practices and international standards, and supporting project teams in resolving complex technical challenges. The role is expected to have a consultative and mentoring function to enhance the technical capabilities of the team.

Key Expected Responsibilities and Duties

• Provide deep, consultative subject matter expertise throughout all project phases, from initial planning to final delivery.
• Review and evaluate plans, designs, and technical documents to ensure compliance with specifications and the highest standards of quality and safety.
• Identify and analyze potential technical risks and propose practical mitigation solutions.
• Develop and review technical standards, work procedures, and project-specific guidelines.
• Work closely with project managers, engineers, and various stakeholders to provide necessary technical support.
• Lead or participate in brainstorming sessions and technical discussions to resolve complex issues.
• Stay abreast of the latest developments, technologies, and trends in the relevant field of specialization.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering or technical field (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Architecture, or Planning). A Master’s degree will be a strong advantage.
• A minimum of 10 years of practical experience in a specialized field related to infrastructure, construction, or urban development projects.
• A proven track record of demonstrated deep expertise (Subject Matter Expertise) in a specific area such as Intelligent Transportation Systems, Sustainability & Green Building, Facilities Management, Urban Planning, or another advanced technical domain.
• Comprehensive knowledge of international standards and applicable local regulations in the UAE and the Gulf region.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work effectively within a team and in a multicultural environment.
• Excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Arabic is considered an additional advantage.
