Scholarship Programme for International Students in Slovakia (Academic Year 2023/2024)
Information and Guidelines
This scholarship programme is tailored for international students aspiring to undertake higher education in Slovakia for the academic year 2023/2024. Applicants are allowed to opt for any public or private higher education institution and any full-time study programme. Scholarship Benefits
Tuition Fee
Scholarship recipients will have their tuition fees waived as per Section 92, Para 11 of Act No. 131/2002 Coll. on Higher Education.
Health Insurance
As per Act No. 580/2004 Coll. on Health Insurance in the Slovak Republic, international scholarship recipients who do not possess a permanent residence in Slovakia, but are not insured in another EU member state or a contracting state of the European Economic Area Agreement or in the Swiss Confederation, will have public health insurance. Visa Application
If required, scholarship recipients will have the privilege to apply for Slovak national visas through a simplified procedure. Find more details here and here. We recommend checking this website for further information.

Scholarship Slots
There are up to 300 available scholarships. Applicants will be categorized into five groups based on their geographical location:
- Europe
- USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Oceania
- South America
- Central America and Africa
- Asia
You can find a full list of countries for each category here. Each category will have 30 slots, for a total of 150 slots. The remaining 150 slots will be filled without regard to category, ensuring a diverse group of successful applicants.
Scholarship Amount
Successful applicants will receive a scholarship of up to €12,000. This will be distributed monthly over the first three academic years of the bachelor’s or joint bachelor’s and master’s degree study programme, with a monthly payment of €400. The scholarship covers ten months each year, from September to June.
